The 180-LV Multi-Temp Digital Controller is a low variance controller, designed for low temperature, slow cooking with full temperature control from 180 degrees to 450 degrees.

In 2007, the 225 digital controller replaced the 180 degree controller and removed the option for 180 degree smoking.  What that means is that the lowest temperature setting is 225 degrees rather than 180 degrees. Here at Pellet Grill Outlet, we cook on wood pellet grills 7 days a week and some of our recipes call for 180-200 degrees!

In 2008, PGO developed and released the 180-LV Multi-Temp Digital Controller because we like to cook between 180-200 degrees and we know some of you do too!

We like to cook between 180-200 degrees because water evaporates at 212 degrees.  At 180-200 degrees, the moisture gets hot, but does not boil.  So we can cook our food longer and keep it more tender.  The result is delicious!

The thermostat probe checks the internal air temperature every 20 seconds and the BBQ then augurs accordingly, thus maintaining a stable temperature - critical for proper smoking. But not only will this improve the quality of your product, like an oven, it allows for a multiple of temperatures. For example, when we bake cookies or pies (oh yes you can), we set the temperature at 375°. If we want the turkey to cook as fast as an oven, we turn the temperature to 325°.

"Don't put it off another day, go and order one for your Wood Pellet Grill."
I ordered and installed the 180-LV Multi-Temp Digital Controller for my Grill. After about two months a good friend of mine that cooks competitions changed his out on his grill. That is the best price I have seen on this item. Don't put it off another day, go and order one for your Grill. You will be glad you did!

"That's when the 180-LV is perfect."
The are times when 225 degrees is just not what you need for the smoke. That's when the 180-LV is perfect. It provides a great range of temps all the way down to 180 degrees. I'm personally surprised that the normal controller will only go down to 225 but it is what it is. It only takes a few minutes to install and you'll be asking yourself why you didn't do it sooner.

Great Controller!
I ordered and received the 180 LV controller for my Smith & Wesson 500 Mag (Trager Executive) grill. It works great! The longer temperature probe extends further into the cavity of the grill, but the gained accuracy is worth working around the probe on the top warming rack. I love being able to select either the 180 or the 225 settings. 225 is the perfect smoking temperature for most items in my opion, but when I am smoking a brisket or pork shoulder over-night, the 180 setting works great too.

I also have the 180LV. It a big improvement over the old 180. All my smokes and cooking have been great. If you have any Traeger grill with the 3 postion switch you should upgrade to the 180LV.

Mr.
I've been wanting to upgrade my Traeger Controller and couldn't decide between the 180-lv or the 225. After reading many comments, I decided on the 180-lv. I can't tell you how happy I am with the 180! My ribs, chickens, and pork butts have been awesome and moist! The extra time is worth it!

180-LV verses 3 way controller
I bought a BBQ-070 Traegar a year ago and soon found how difficult the 3-way temp controller was. It could easilly go out on smoke mode and was hard to hold a consistant temp. I have use the 180-LV for 10+months now and really like the ease. I never run on smoke mode - I use 180 temp and get along great. There are plenty of temp settings to get you cooking!! 4 stars not 5 is only from a issue that needed to replace controller when it failed. PGO has been great at customer service and support and fixed it to my satisfaction!!
